Dutch Choir Melbourne

Dutch Choir Melbourne began in June 2016 out of an interest expressed in Melbourne’s Dutch community to have a place where they could sing in Dutch. Jeannie came on board as the Musical Director of the choir, bringing her experience with other multicultural choirs in Melbourne. Dutch language and Dutch music were completely new territory for Jeannie, and it has been a joy to set out on new choral adventures!

The choir has already developed a rich repertoire of Dutch songs, ranging from recent pop songs to cabaret and traditional songs. The choir is accessible to all, no previous singing experience required.

Dutch Choir Melbourne made its debut at Dutch Club Abel Tasman in Carnegie in October 2016, performing classics such as Het Dorp, Amsterdam, Brandend Zand, and Sinds een dag of twee, plus 2015 pop song Naar de Zee.

Repertoire in 2017 includes wonderful songs by Nick en Simon, Herman van Veen, Wim Sonneveld, Brigitte Kaandorp, Noordkaap, Gerard Cox, Guus Meeuwis, and more…

Rehearsals:  Thursday evenings, 7.00 – 8.30, Southbank
